Mumbai is on the go 24 hours a day and if you take the effort to wake up a little bit early, can experience a completely different side of the city which few get to see! Mumbai at dawn appears quieter than normal initially, but when you enter the various markets (fruit, meat, fish) you will be woken up by the size and energy of these places with its people carrying, cleaning, selling and hustling. The fragrant smells of the spices, vegetables and fruit linger in the air as you pass by but so do the fish and the meat. The meat market is not for the faint hearted (you can choose to skip this) and even the most ardent carnivores might raise an eyebrow at the fate of the thousands of poor chickens. The pace does change as you will also enter a Hindu and Jain Temple, seeing Mumbai’s residents undertake their morning daily rituals and understanding more about these two religions.
